Wallace Edward Collins, 89, died Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Liberty Health Care. Wallace was born January 6, 1928, in Boone County, West Virginia, the son of Albert Collins and Minnie May Miller (Pauley)

Wallace was a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Hope Baptist Church in Girard.

He was an excellent provider for his family. Retired from US Steel-McDonald, however Wally (Wallace) was a worker, he never really retired. He liked working and helping his son every day at Steve’s Auto Body. He enjoyed gardening and planted a vegetable garden in the lot beside Steve’s shop every year. He loved people and gave most of his produce away to friends and family.

Wallace had a kind and generous heart and will be missed by all who knew him. Wallace will be sadly missed by his son Steve Collins and daughter-in-law Darla Collins of Vienna, granddaughter Lisa (Collins) Benetos and her husband Nicholas Benetos, five great grandchildren; Theo, Maki, Athan, Taylore, and Maxine; and one great-great-granddaughter Peyton.

Besides his parents, Wallace is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gladys Collins (Price), whom he married November 19, 1949 and died May 16, 2017, his son, James Dale Collins, his grandson James and his brother Albert, half-brothers; Rosco, Everett, Hassel, Oakley and half-sister Grace Van Lynn . Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 5th, 12:00PM, at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
