William Joseph (Bill) Lucas passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017 at 6:00 am at his home with his family by side.
Bill was born October 10, 1935 to George and Helen (Bernat) Lucas in Youngstown, OH.
He was employed at Lombard Corp. for 17 years and in Accounts Payable at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 25 years.
Bill had been a member of the Girard Knights of Columbus since 1962 and had served in various office positions- President and Treasurer for the Home Company, Navigator & Purser for the 4th Degree (Bisphop Franzetta Assembly) and Treasurer & Financial Secretary for the 3rd Degree (Girard Council 2935). He was also District Secretary for 4 years. Bill served St. Rose Church as an usher and funeral mass server for over 25 years.
He is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School 1953 and Youngstown College 1971.
He enjoyed bowling and golf and was Secretary for the K of C Bowling League for many years. Bill was independent Tax Preparer since 1971 until 2017.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Barnini Lucas whom he married October 10, 1959, two sons, Mark (Karen) of California and Gary of Girard, two brothers, George (Peggi) Lucas, of McKees Rock, PA, and Paul Lucas of North Oldsmar, FL, brother-in-law Dick Yankel of Youngstown, two grandchildren, Xavier and Emily of California and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen Lucas and sister Dorothy Yankel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 6th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church. Family and friends may call at the Blackstone Funeral Home, Girard , on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Bill will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
