Yolanda "Yoli" Morano Sherman

February 17, 1934 — February 10, 2023

Yolanda "Yoli" Morano Sherman, 88, passed peacefully away at the home of her nephew, February 10, 2023, where she resided for the past three years.

She was born February 17, 1934, in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of the late James and Yolanda (Bernard) Morano.  She was a 1951 graduate of Girard High School, attended Youngstown College.  She taught math at North High in Youngstown before moving on to teach at Beaver Country Day School in Boston and then at The Spence School in New York City.

She married Bernard Sherman, June 29, 1976.  They spent time together traveling the world and going to theater productions in NYC.  She enjoyed knitting, quilting, and coming home to visit family where they played a lot of card games, singing around the piano and playing the guitar.

She leaves behind her brother, Frank (Sonya) Morano of Henderson, Nevada; six nieces and nephews, Marguerite (Meg DeMaiolo) Daniluk, Nicholas (Helen) DeMaiolo, James DeMaiolo with whom she made her home, Michelle (Dan) Morano Elbright, Therese (Todd) Evans, Scott (Jared) Morano, six great nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind her daughter in law, Susan Bufano and her two children.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie, a brother, Nick, sisters, Rose DeMaiolo and Josephine Morano, a niece, Lauri Krossman, and a great nephew, Brandon Patterson.
